Selection criteria for thigh prosthesis joints

For leg amputees, the standard rehabilitation effect are often built on whether the correct selection of the knee joint, according to the patient age, physical strength and way of life to choose the knee joint, such ability to display the joint function to the ideal effect, but for some patients, the security and stability is more important than powerful features, Here is the selection criteria for you to introduce thigh prosthesis joint.

The hip joint

According to the requirements of internal and external rotation adjustment for the assembly of amputees, the joist hip joint can be selected.

According to the requirements of line adjustment for adduction and abduction in the assembly of amputees, front-mounted hip joints can be selected.

The knee joint

Uniaxial knee joint is suitable for amputees with strong residual limb control ability to assemble prosthetics.

Hand-controlled locking uniaxial knee joint is suitable for older amputees or bilateral amputees with poor residual limb control ability.

Load-bearing self-locking uniaxial knee joint is suitable for amputees with weak limb control ability, older age or often walking on uneven road surface.

Multi-axis knee joint is suitable for amputees with weak residual limb control ability or knee joint as hip and thigh prosthesis.

Fluid (air) pressure knee joint is suitable for amputees with strong residual limb control ability and high mobility.

The ankle

Fixed ankle is suitable for making light skeletal thigh prosthesis.

Uniaxial ankle is suitable for amputees with various stump conditions to make skeletal leg prosthesis.

Universal ankle is suitable for amputees walking on uneven road to make skeletal leg prosthesis.

Prosthetic feet

The artificial foot should be similar to the shape of the human foot, and which can wear the same shoes as the healthy side;

The type and heel height of prosthetic foot should be selected according to the habits and requirements of amputees.

The length of the prosthetic foot should be equal to or shorter than the healthy side 0 ~ 10mm, so as to wear the same number of shoes with the healthy side;

The SACH foot should be used with the fixed ankle.

Uniaxial foot should be matched with uniaxial ankle;

Universal foot should be used with universal ankle;

The connection method

If the wood plastic connecting plate is directly connected with the prosthetic socket, or the wood plastic connecting plate is connected with the prosthetic socket with a hard bubble, or the wood making of the prosthetic socket, the outer surface should be strengthened by vacuuming process;

If the metal connector is directly connected with the receiving cavity, the bonding strength between the connector and the composite layer should be guaranteed, as well as the strength of the local area of the receiving cavity at the embedded part of the connector;

Before the product is delivered to amputees, fastening screws at each connection part should be treated with anti-loosening.

For amputees with good stump condition, suction suspension should be used. The position of the valve hole should be opened outside or inside the front, and the connection of the valve pipe and the acceptance cavity should be as close to the bottom of the acceptance cavity as possible, and stick firmly without leakage;

Amputees with poor stump conditions can be suspended with a belt; The connecting part of belt and receiving cavity shall be prefabricated with metal nut. Soft bushing can be added to the receiving cavity.

On the line

Static on the line

When assembling hip and thigh prosthesis, the line should be aligned according to the requirements of Figure 5 and Table 5.

Dynamic adjustment

Stand naturally, adjust the stability of the prosthesis, and make the extension Angle of the prosthesis symmetrical with the healthy side;

Observe the gait of the amputee, and adjust the gait of the prosthesis to be close to normal, and meet the reasonable requirements of the amputee.

Appearance

Shape should be similar to a healthy limb;

Color should be similar to skin color;

Soft decorative cover should be equipped with qualified skin color socket.

Size

The height should be equal to the healthy side, allowing 0 ~ 10mm lower than the healthy side;

The length of sitting leg of amputee should be equal to the healthy side, allowing 0 ~ 20mm longer than the healthy side; The calf height should be equal to the healthy side, allowing 0 ~ 20mm higher than the healthy side.

Weight

The weight of hip and thigh prosthesis should not be greater than 5kg;

The weight of the thigh prosthesis should not be greater than 3.5kg;

Large knee prostheses should weigh no more than 3.5kg.

Service life under normal circumstances, the main parts should be able to use more than one year.

Prosthetic socket test

Use an inner circumference measuring device for inner circumference dimensions. Using depth ruler measure depth;

The smoothness of the inner wall and the upper edge of the mouth is visually measured by hand feeling.

Physical and mechanical properties should be made into standard splines according to conventional process formula for inspection;

The shape of the mouth is measured and visually measured with a ruler.

The degree of fitness was visually measured by the amputee and reported by the amputee.

Soft bushing inspection

Calipers for thickness;

Upper edge height with ruler;

Adhesive quality is visually measured by hand feeling;

Physical properties should be made into standard splines according to conventional materials for inspection.

Soft decorative cover inspection

After wearing the prosthesis, the amputee made the motion of bending the knee and hip, and observed the change of the stretching state of the soft bush.

Visual evaluation of prosthesis shape and color.

On line inspection

According to the three requirements of thigh alignment, the prosthesis was set up on the alignment platform, and the position alignment state of each side was measured by lead weight.

After wearing the prosthesis, the amputee stood on the flat ground, observed the extension Angle of the prosthesis and the contact of the sole of the foot to the ground, and compared the degree of symmetry between the prosthesis and the healthy limb.

Amputees wear prosthetics to walk on various roads, up and down stairs and squat, and observe whether there are abnormalities.

Dimensional inspection

Measuring the height of the prosthesis with a ruler or tape measure on the platform;

After wearing the prosthesis, the amputee stood naturally and measured the level of iliac crest with pelvic level to judge the height of the prosthesis.

The sitting position of the amputee was 90° hip and knee flexion. The length of the thigh and the height of the lower leg were measured with a ruler.

Measure the length of the foot with a tape measure. Measure the circumference of each part with a tape measure.
